Christmas Holiday in Stockholm..

I have to admit that I have underestimated Stockholm. I have taken the capital city for granted. Seems like a common phenomena when it comes to things that are a part of one's daily life. Quite sad.. However, I have realized my mistake and now I appreciate Stockholm more than ever. Once I brought my camera to the city on a mission beyond shopping I realized that there are more to Stockholm than the main shopping street.

Below are some of the photos from my latest visit to the city, a few days before Christmas.. I was happily surprised by the Christmas decorations. It may not be to the extent found in London or New York but it is Stockholm and I have grown to love it! Once I got beyond my blindness, naivety and "the taking for granted".

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..

I was dreaming of a white Christmas, and for the first time in several years the Christmas holiday was decorated with several inches of
w h i t e f l u f f y snow! I, of course, needed to document this rare phenomenon on Christmas day in a creative manner as the urge, like the snow, came over me in great quantity. This resulted in a spontaneous photosession where my partner in crime became the model. Fortunately, he was dressed up perfectly for the unplanned photosession. The contrast created with the black and white and the depth of field make the pictures more interesting and give them a more artistic character. Doesn't hurt that the model is mighty fine as well.. wink wink.. (click on the pictures to see them in a larger format)

Cont. Photosession the 2nd of December

Continuation on the previous post...
As I mentioned the weather was beautiful as the sun finally appeared..
The sun sets quite early this time of the year, and it does so rapidly. The sun gave the surroundings a yellowish/orange color overlay that was so dominant. One could not look straight in to the sun with out making a grimace, and then be blinded for a few seconds.

As can be observed in the photos presented in the previous post, the direction of light falls on her left side of the face from a, close to, horizontal angle.. At first it was a poor solution to the problem of 'looking in to the light frowning and suffering from short-term light blindness', but as the artistic instincts kicked in new ideas appeared. We worked from new angles and now the shadows had a meaning. She became more mysterious. Although, I would still have liked to have the opportunity of redirecting the light, and to even it out using reflectors. Dear Santa, I wish for a reflector for Christmas, in an appropriate size, at least 80cm...

Nevertheless, I'm pleased with the outcome of the photos and inspired for new projects, spontaneous and/or planned. Below are some pictures from the photoshoot that support my rambling above... (Click on the photos to see them in larger format and in better quality)

Photography, my passion...

Another blog?
I have a photo blog in which I post my photos and combine them with a line or two from an appropriate song. Together, the picture and lyric, represent the current day or feeling.
Check it out: http://dreamer.aminus3.com

Nevertheless, I realized that sometimes I want to convey more than just that, I want to explain, discuss or just express opinions in forms of..
? more words? Furthermore, to display more photos from the same photo-shoot. When I'm out snapping photos I often come home with at least a 100, but if I'm "lucky" there are about 5 of those pictures that are decent enough to share with the rest of you. In this blog I can post those 5 photos beside each other and create a more coherent presentation of my photography.
However, I like the concept of my other photo
blog as well, so I realized if I ought to be pleased in the manner of blogging, and expressing myself I had to create another blog. So I did... And here it is..
